Arlesey Town came out top in their Boxing Day battle at Cambridge City.
On a sticky pitch in front of 385 spectators at the ProEdge Stadium, Arlesey ended in-form Cambridge’s nine match unbeaten run with clinical finishing to take all three points and push up the Premier Division table.
All the goals arrived early in the second half.
Arlesey took the lead on 52 minutes when Chris Marsh headed home at the far post from Johnson’s cross. But City were back on level terms when Adam Marriott turned on the penalty spot to rifle home five minutes later.
The hosts upped the pressure and should have gone ahead.
However, it was Arlesey who then grabbed the winning goal just past the hour mark.
A corner from the left from Drew Roberts was flicked on by Frater and Chris Dillon was there to stab the ball over the line.
Next up for Arlesey is a visit to Bedworth on Saturday followed by a home game against local rivals Hitchin Town on New Year’s Day, kick off 3pm.
