A council’s new look website promises to be easier to use.

South Cambs District Council’s redesigned online presence has been developed in response to an increasing number of people wanting to carry out transactions online.

The council is keen to encourage them because it costs the council an estimated 15p per online transaction and £8 or more if someone visits the council’s offices.

The most frequently used pages will be immediately accessible from the council’s homepage. And each page features a feedback section so the council can continually improve the service and information available.

Councillor James Hockney, South Cambridgeshire District Council’s cabinet member for corporate and customer services, said: “The new website has been designed with the user at its heart and makes it easier than ever before to pay bills, report problems and even apply for the services we offer online.

“With more and more people wanting to carry out transactions online, and at a time that best suits them, we need a website that makes this possible.

“We still intend to make sure we have staff available at our offices and at the end of the phone if our residents need to discuss any issues with us.”
