Charity Q&A

I am: Stephanie Abbott, 20, of Sandy

Local connections:

I am a fitness and class instructor at Sandy Sports Centre

What’s the event? I am taking part in a tandem skydive on Saturday, August 2 in Cambridge to raise Awareness for Help For Heroes. I took the decision to choose Help For Heroes as my charity because of the number of family and friends I know whose lives have been affected from loss or injury of loved ones. Choosing a skydive for a fundraiser is completely out of my comfort zone therefore hoping to increase the amount of support for Help for Heroes. I had the incentive to do this through a number of events my clients and members at Sandy Sports Centre had taken part in. For example, Warrior Adrenaline Race and Race for Life. It came to my attention that doing my part in helping the wounded and less fortunate will also encourage other people to do the same and because of the job that I am in I present myself as a role model to others.

Do you have a financial target? My aim is to raise £500 through online and offline donations for this charity which will contribute towards giving care and support for the wounded soldiers who are serving our country.

How can people support you? I am selling charity wristbands at Sandy Sports Centre in return for a small donation which will go toward my fundraising event. In addition to this I have an online fundraising page www.bmycharity.com/sabbottskydive
