Musicians from around the area competed in the annual Beds Festival of Music, Speech and Drama.
Sandy Upper School’s choir were narrowly beaten to first place by Harmony Youth Choir in the under 19s category but gained a distinction for their haunting performances of Danny Boy and Fields of Gold.
Sandy choir leader Karen Beer said: “I couldn’t have been prouder of them.
“They achieved such a high standard despite rehearsing together only once a week. They are a credit to the school.”
Sandy Upper soloist Jack Culbert triumphed in the oratorio class with his rendition of Handel’s Comfort Ye and Every Valley.
East Beds Youth Choir won the open choral class with an outstanding.
Cople Lower School won the small village class with Sutton Lower School taking second place with a distinction. Alban Academy in Great Barford won the under Year Eight class with Biggleswade Academy gaining silver.
