A giant book sale will appeal to keen readers.

The Blunham Giant Book Sale has been running for the last decade, increasing in size every time. It started off in the garage of organiser, Sue Holden, back in 2003 where it raised £70.

In 2004 it moved to the St Edmund or St James’ Church in the village and a coffee morning was added.

And it has increased in size until last year’s event raised an impressive £1,431 – almost £1,000 of which was from books.

All books, cakes, soup and raffle prizes are donated, and all money raised goes towards essential maintenance to keep the medieval church in good repair.

The organisers spend a day displaying the books to their best advantage by putting the fiction books in alphabetical order by author and the non-fiction books in categories.

This year’s sale is on Saturday, February 8 from 10am to around 3pm, depending on when the last customer leaves.
