Will Cinders make it to the prince’s ball?

Find out at Haynes Amateur Dramatic Society’s panto, which is, of course, Cinderella. The society’s annual pantomime has been a popular event since Haynes Village Hall opened in 1976 and this year promises to be no exception.

The script, written by talented young Haynes writers, Will Seear and Scott Thomson, inevitably ensures that, despite the efforts of a very wicked stepmother and two very ugly sisters, Cinderella can eventually give up sweeping the house and end up by sweeping the Prince off his feet!

Performances are at the village hall on Friday, January 31 at 7.30pm and on Saturday, February 1 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £7 for adults and £5 for senior citizens and under 16s. A family ticket for four people costs £20. To book yours call the box office on 01234 381567 or email jenniferhayward@yahoo.co.uk

Another pantomime coming up soon is Geronimo.

This western, performed by Henlow’s village drama group, features lots of well known characters.

Performances will be in the village hall on Thursday, February 6, Friday, February 7 and Saturday, February 8 at 7.30pm plus there will be a Saturday matinee at 2pm.

Tickets cost £7 for adults on the Thursday (buy one get one free) and £5 for concessions. For the Friday and Saturday evening performances tickets cost £8 and for the matinee they are £7 for adults and £5 for concessions. Tickets are on sale from 01462 812337.

Coming up at the Gordon Craig Theatre in Stevenage is a work by a prolific English playwright.

See Alan Ayckbourn’s Absent Friends from Wednesday, February 5 to Saturday, February 8. Performances are at 7.45pm each evening and there is a 2.30pm Saturday matinee.

Tickets cost from £17.50 for the matinee and from £16 for the evening shows from 01438 363200.
