A new road could be called Centurion Walk.
Central Beds Council asked Sandy Town Council to put forward suggestions for a street name for the 36 new homes off Station Road.
Discussing the matter last night (Monday, September 24) Sandy Town Councillors decided to suggest Centurion Walk, which was thought up by Councillor Nigel Aldis.
They wanted to reflect the Roman history of that area of Sandy.
But they will suggest that the houses facing on to Station Road are given postal addresses in Station Road.
Councillor Aldis also mentioned the name Chesterfield as it is connected with the area and mentioned that there used to be a gasworks near the site. Tree names were also discussed as a nearby street is Willow Rise.
The name Centurion Walk will now go forward to Central Beds Council.
