Visitors had the chance to discover old Tudor buildings no longer in situ at Willington Dovecote and Stables in a special day for volunteers.
National Trust East of England archaeologist Alan Wainwright led the digging of trial pits in search of the old buildings, possibly dating back to Tudor times.
Data obtained by a geophysical survey around the Dovecote and Stables identified traces of buildings no longer there.
Visitors could also check out any of the finds, look at maps of the historic Willington landscape and view the interior of the Trust properties.
Afternoon teas were served at St Lawrence’s Church in the village.
There was also an organ recital to enjoy.
