Biggleswade Rugby Club has secured Olympic legacy funding to the tune of £38,000 from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities fund.
Biggy will use the funding to complete phase one of a refurbishment of the clubhouse and facilities, including new windows, ceiling, flooring, lighting, a new bar area and new furnishings.
The squash viewing area will be upgraded and the changing room toilets totally renewed.
The club acknowledge the huge amount of work done by chairman Steve ‘Stan’ Matthews and Graham Simpson from Team Beds & Luton who are the strategic lead for sport in Bedfordshire.
Simpson said: “Everyone at Team Beds & Luton is delighted that the club have successfully secured funding to improve the quality of their facilities.
“Biggleswade Rugby Club has a strong, well established reputation for providing good quality sporting opportunities not only to club members but to the wider local community.
“As a consequence many local people stand to enjoy the enhanced facilities that this investment from Sport England will provide.”
