Stretch your legs with a walk around Sandy.
The Lowfield Walk has been arranged by Sandy Tourist Information Centre and it will take place on Saturday (April 27).
The walk is one of the routes contained in the Jubilee Walks leaflet, which was written in 2012 by the TIC and published by Sandy Town Council to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen.
The Lowfield Walk takes you from the town into the countryside with its varied landscape of arable fields, deciduous and coniferous woods, heathland and low greensand hills.
On this walk you will pass through much of the Pym family estate. The Pyms have resided on their Hazells Hall estate since 1761.
Whilst walking through Sandy’s Low Fields you will pass remaining outlying defences of the Second World War airfield of RAF Tempsford, situated nearby. You will also walk along the route of the Roman road and climb the wooded Pinnacle (or Sandhills) with its magnificent views over the Ivel Valley.
Meet at the TIC in Cambridge Road at 2.30pm. The walk is free. For more information and to book a place call the TIC on 01767 682728 or email tourism@sandytowncouncil.gov.uk
