Is your garden the fairest in Chronicle Country?

Spring seems to have taken extra long to come this year – but now that the warmer weather seems to finally be arriving, we are calling on greenfingered gardeners to enter the 2013 Biggleswade Chronicle Garden Of The Year competition.

Once again we have teamed up with Frosts at Willington for this annual search to find the best gardens in Chronicle Country.

There are a host of categories you can compete in – and great prizes to be won!

There are sections for household gardens, community initiatives, schools and allotments.

Categories for this year’s competition are:

Small front garden, small and large back garden, hanging baskets/containers, community garden, allotment/vegetable garden, drought tolerant/water conservation garden, school/preschool garden and school/pre-school containers.

From these categories the judges will select the overall Chronicle Garden of the Year!

It’s free to enter. All you need to do is take a colour photograph of your garden looking its best. Then complete an entry form – which will be available soon.

The closing date for entries to the competition is Friday, June 21.

Marks will be awarded for the overall impression – how pleasing it is to the eye and how well the overall design works in relation to the size of the garden.

Judges will also consider planting: the variety, colour, overall maintenance and general health.

And there will also be close attention paid to sustainability.

We are hoping for a bumper mailbag of entries this year – so now that spring has sprung, why not flex your green fingers and head out in to the garden to take part?

Good luck!
